OWL-Coordinator
The Ohio State Welcome Leader (OWL) program provides opportunities for residence hall students who value leadership and helping others to participate in the residence hall Move-In process.
The Office of Student Life - Housing and Residence Education is looking for student leaders who are familiar with campus, have a desire to help lead a small group of OWLs and facilitate building relationships while training peers for duties during Move-In. We're also looking for individuals who have a desire to grow as leaders through an extended training before OWLs arrive.
You do not have to have previous experience with OWL to apply to be an OWL Coordinator (OWL-C).
OWL Coordinators who will live off-campus will need to secure housing, as we do not provide temporary housing.
Job Description
- Participate in OWL leadership training
- OWL-Coordinators report to Area Coordinators and communicate with them often
- Act as a support and resource for OWLs throughout the program and Move-In
- Give OWLs guidance and answer any questions they may have about OWL and Move-In
- Act as liaisons between OWL Leadership and OWLs
OWL-Coordinator Responsibilities:
- To be a resource for OWLs and provide guidance to flocks
- Report to Area Cordinators and stay up-to-date with program tasks
- Communicate with leadership team and OWLs of important dates and times to report
- Use conflict resolution skills learned in training during move-in process

OWL-Coordinator Training
Sunday, August 11 - Tuesday, August 13
- Sunday, August 11 = OWL-C Move-In from 9 a.m. -5 p.m.
- Monday, August 12 = OWL-C Training from 1pm - 9:30pm
- Tuesday, August 13 = OWL-C Training from 11am - 6pm
OWL Program
Wednesday, August 14 - Saturday, August 17 = Move-In
OWL-Cs will be asked to sign up for a certain amount of Move-In shifts throughout this Move-In timeframe. One of them needing to be on Wednesday 8/14 for OWL Move-In.
- Wednesday, August 14 = OWL-Cs to assist in the first day of Move-In as the OWLs all arrive on this day
- Wednesday, August 14 = Evening = OWL Training from 7-9pm (You will meet with your flock immediately after training). You should arrive to owl training by 6:30pm.
- Thursday, August 15 - Saturday, August 17 = Move-In Shifts throughout the day for OWLs & OWL-Cs
- Thursday, August 15 Evening = OWL Hoot Fest 7-9 p.m. @ RPAC Tom W Davis Gym & outdoor area. This is a large social event that will include inflatables, food, music, an appearance from our favorite mascots and more!
