The MUNDO Land Acknowledgment
MUNDO respectfully acknowledges the territory where we gather as being the ancestral homelands of the Shawnee, Potawatomi, Delaware, Miami, Peoria, Seneca, Wyandotte, Ojibwe, and many other indigenous peoples.
Specifically, the university resides on land ceded in the 1795 Treaty of Greenville and the forced removal of tribes through the Indian Removal Act of 1830.
In recognition of the rich histories and continuing legacies of these Indigenous nations as well as others who were selectively omitted from the history of the United States and the world, we encourage those within our group to engage with the lived experiences and community wisdom of others (both past and present) in ways that promote cross-cultural learning and active anti-bias behaviors.
