Bringing It All Together

Finding the right paths to success at Ohio State—and beyond—is easier when you have people helping guide and support the journey.

As part of the ROUTES Unlimited (RU) experience, participants have face-to-face, real-time opportunities to connect, learn, and reflect alongside Ohio State upper-class peer mentors, faculty and staff, campus partners, and alumni. These experiences help students make meaningful connections, gain new perspectives, and bring together what they are learning in and outside the classroom.

Through these “Bringing It All Together” experiences, RU participants learn to:

  • Stay engaged in their communities through service, learning, and leadership at Ohio State and beyond.
  • Invest in their personal well-being and growth as a lifelong practice that includes supporting others.
  • Help create spaces where people feel respected, valued, and heard, and where differences are met with curiosity, understanding, and openness.
  • Apply what they learn through ROUTES Unlimited to their academic, professional, and everyday lives.
  • Collaborate, reflect, and lead with empathy by putting learning into action through conversations, relationships, and healthy community connections.

Alumni Support

With nearly three decades of history, ROUTES Unlimited has built a strong network of former participants, peer mentors, faculty, staff, and program supporters who are committed to helping current students navigate their own success journeys.

Throughout the year, RU participants can connect with alumni through opportunity path programming, special events, mentoring opportunities, and social media engagement.

ES HESA 3500: Becoming a Global Citizen—Identity, Immersion, and Action

In an increasingly interconnected world, developing self-awareness and a global perspective is essential for responsible citizenship.

ES HESA 3500: Becoming a Global Citizen—Identity, Immersion, and Action explores how personal values, lived experiences, and social identities shape the ways individuals understand, engage with, and contribute to diverse communities—both locally and globally. Students examine the concept of consciousness of self as a foundation for ethical action, cultural humility, and meaningful participation in a diverse and just society.

Planned for Spring Semester 2027, this 3–4 credit-hour course will include the Multicultural Histories and Legacies of Italy study abroad experience, an eight-day immersive program scheduled for March 12–20, 2027.
