The Multicultural Histories and Legacies of the United Kingdom Study Abroad Experience

The Multicultural Histories and Legacies of United Kingdom: Castles, Curries and Cathedrals program provides student participants the opportunity to understand what social change is and how (and when) to implement it to create more just, inclusive, and equitable communities at home and abroad.

The two-part experience features an eight-day, hands-on, global learning experience in London and the United Kingdom, with excursions to Brighton and Dover, England. While abroad, the group will explore the ideas, concepts, and theories examined in a semester-long course taught at The Ohio State University Columbus campus.

As part of the MUNDO ES HESA 3573 course, participants will examine the concept of social change in domestic and global contexts.  Class participants utilize digital media, lectures, and interactive experiences at home and abroad facilitated by the course instructors/resident directors and local and international community members, civic leaders, and scholars to examine social change theory.

The Multicultural Histories and Legacies global travel opportunity will occur during spring break 2023 as part of the semester-long course at the Ohio State University-Columbus campus.

Locations

The program will be housed in London, the UK, with day trips to Brighton, and Dover, England. While overseas, the group will analyze how powerful societal influences such as religion, government, and societal structures shape the lived experiences of diverse communities both in the past and present. As a thriving European governmental and commercial center, and cultural crossroads for many nationalities from all around the world, London is an ideal setting for an unforgettable out-of-classroom global learning experience.
