The Toronto Experience 2024
May 6-13, 2024 (Buxton and Greater Toronto, Ontario (Canada) area)
In recognition of the 25th anniversary of MUNDO’s first international educational road trip, MUNDO in collaboration with the Second Year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) and the Black Student Association presents The MUNDO Toronto Experience 2024-Beyond Borders and Boundaries: Creating Space, Defining Place, and Making Connections
This exciting new 8-day learning opportunity will provide participants with a unique road trip opportunity that will allow them to explore who they are at home and abroad, learn about the multicultural histories and legacies of one of Canada's most diverse and multicultural urban communities, and to engage in active development of strategies that promote positive change at home and abroad.
Travel Notes:
Departure for Toronto, Ontario (Canada):
- The group will depart for Toronto on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 8:30 AM (after bus pick-ups from the Ohio Union
Return from Toronto:
- The group will depart Toronto at 9 AM on Tuesday, May 13, 2024, and return to campus by 6 PM.
Passports
- Passports will be required for participants who are non-Canadian citizens or permanent residents (non-U.S. students may also require additional identification and documentation)
Learning Outcomes and Goals
Active participants in the MUNDO Toronto May Experience 2024 will be able to:
- Identify strategies for working collaboratively with others to achieve a common purpose related to service (MOVING THROUGH)
- Will discuss the benefits and challenges of identifying, exploring, and examining a diversity of ideas, viewpoints, and values for life. (MOVING OUT)
What's Included in the Experience
This year’s experience will include roundtrip bus transportation to Toronto, accommodations and breakfasts at the University of Toronto, a subway pass for the entire stay in Toronto, a ticket to a local Arts event, multicultural tours of Toronto and surrounding areas, group exploration time, and nontraditional discovery opportunities focused on exploring the challenges and opportunities related exploring ways to “create space, define place, and make connections.”
Participation Requirements
Application
Participants will next need to complete the Toronto Experience application by Monday, January 22, 2024
- The application will be available beginning Monday, December 4, 2023
- Selection to the program will be based on active status with MUNDO, PASS/BOLD, an Involved Living Organization, and the completion of essay questions focused on what participants plan to contribute to the experience as well as get out it in terms of service, learning, and leadership skill and knowledge development.
Selection
- Participants selected to participate in the Toronto Experience will be notified by Friday, February 2, 2024
Cost (Broken into 3 payments-deposit, first and final payments)
- $550 for Active MUNDO, PASS/BOLD, and Involved Living Organization Members
- $895 for Non-Active MUNDO, PASS/BOLD, and Involved Living Organization Members
- $1800 for Second-Year Transformational Experience Program Fellowship recipients
Pre-Departure Meeting
- All Participants are required to attend a Pre-Departure informational meeting on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 8:00 PM (Location TBD)
