Curation statement:

The Ohio State University is home to nearly 67,000 students. We work, study, and exist on our campus among a multitude of diverse social identities, interacting with and learning from one another. However, despite Ohio State’s diversity, not everyone feels that their identities belong on campus. Feeling seen, feeling heard, and finding belonging can amount to vastly difference experiences to different people. This exhibition seeks to uplift the journeys all Ohio State students take to be seen, to be heard, and to belong.

Genre and Style:

Artists may submit works in any style and genre to meet the exhibition theme (fine art, illustration, design, conceptual, realism, etc.).

Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual or experimental which represent the curation statement. “To Be Heard, To Be Seen, To Belong” seeks to consider and present the broad scope of media used for visual expression today.

Videos, can be accepted but will need to be discussed with committee.

Works requiring electricity: such as lights and/or speakers can not be accepted.

We require dimensions and material descriptions upon application.

Submissions are encouraged to not exceed dimensions approximately 48” inches in height or width.

Artists seeking to exceed this installation size will require consultation and consideration by the exhibition review committee. All submissions should not exceed a depth from a wall of more than 8”. All proposed artwork is subject to review for compliance with accessibility and ADA requirements in our public gallery spaces.

Submissions do not require framing and installation or mounting hardware, but are strongly recommended. Exhibition organizers will coordinate with the artist and provide framing service and mounting hardware for all final artworks selected by the review committee.
